The WordPress Posts content source allows you to fetch posts (or custom posts) from your blog and display them in a SlideDeck2 slider. It is analogous to the Smart SlideDeck from SlideDeck 1.
Preferred Image Source (No Image / First image in content / Featured image / First image in gallery )
Allows you to select the preferred source for the image used in the slide. First image in content will simply look for the first image tag in your post and use that image's src. Featured image and First image in gallery will pull from the post's gallery of attached images. Choosing either of the two options that pull from uploaded images reveals an additional option called Preferred Image Size.
Preferred Image Size
Allows you to choose a specific image size (instead of SlideDeck attempting to find an appropriate size). The Auto (120%) and Auto (100%) options use WordPress' built in functions to figure out what image size will fit your deck best. Auto (120%) uses the deck size multiplied by 1.2, in an effort to get a larger image rather than a smaller one. The drop down will show all of your registered image sizes in addition to an option for Original Image (use with caution).
The post type option shows your registered post types and allows you to select one of them for display.
Which Posts? (order by) (Recent / Popular / User Sort Order)
The order option allows you to select which posts will show up at the top of the query (or which posts will make it into your slider). Popular posts are determined largely by comment count and date, while User Sort Order is for hierarchical post types such as pages.
Use Custom Excerpt? (On or Off)
If a custom excerpt is entered for a post, this will use it instead of the post content (but only if the custom excerpt is filled out).
Filter by Taxonomy? (On or Off)
Enabling this option shows some additional controls for filtering by Taxonomies (categories/tags).
Once it is switched on, additional options show up and list the registered taxonomies. Turning on one of the displayed taxonomies will show the familiar WordPress interface for choosing Categories / Tags / Custom Taxonomies.
Taxonomy Inclusion Option ( Any of these taxonomies / All of these taxonomies )
This unlabeled option will allow you to set a simple rule for taxonomy selection. If it is set to "Any" then a post must simply meet one of the taxonomy criteria to be included in the set. If "All" is selected then the post must include all of the specified taxonomies. For instance, a post with the "All" option selected but contain both the specified categories AND the specified Tags in order to make it into the final query.
If a Taxonomy is registered but has no posts assigned to it, it will not be displayed in the list of choices!
