A number of reasons: firstly, because we love WordPress. Given our experience with creating the original SlideDeck plugin, and its sister product Hello Bar, we’re very familiar with the huge range of possibilities that WordPress offers to plugin developers. In addition, its popularity meant that we would have the opportunity to help a significant chunk of web users by building for the platform.
Based on our goals for the product, WordPress gave us the framework we needed to enable anyone to create functionally complex, yet beautiful content sliders. We choose not to update the jQuery version with the SlideDeck 2 features in order to maintain a powerful and flexible solution for developers to create highly customizable SlideDecks for any website.
